Tree Equity Score Analyzer is a human-centered, data-driven, decision-making tool for urban tree plantings.

This is a picture of a laptop with the TESA website. On the left, there is a sidebar detailing block group data related to tree equity. On the right, there is a map with parcel and right-of-way geometries. Tree canopy outlines are also included in the map.

American Forests has developed the Tree Equity Score Analyzer (TESA) for cities and states that are ready to bring Tree Equity to fruition, one city lot at a time.

Explore the map

Dig through layers of information through map visualizations. Each Tree Equity Score Analyzer starts with the neighborhood-level Tree Equity Score as a foundation, and builds in rich spatial exploration of Census demographics, environment & land use patterns, parcel-level tree planting potential, and satellite orthoimagery.

Evaluate data

Tree Equity Score Analyzers draw upon targeted local data to inform planting and tree protection. Uncover supporting metrics to bolster project reports and grant-writing. Evaluate and screen areas with the greatest need for tree planting and protection using map filters.

Build scenarios

Discover how targeted tree plantings can shift Tree Equity Scores and improve health and well-being in neighborhoods and communities. Achieving a Tree Equity Score of 100 can be a multi-year project. Set interim targets and identify tree planting need. Then create and track parcel-level planting plans to achieve your goals.

Measure impact

Tree Equity Score Analyzers help you track progress and communicate impacts. Each new scenario auto-generates an impact report summarizing your Tree Equity Score targets and tree planting progress. A built-in benefits calculator breaks down the estimated economic and environmental benefits of your project, including the benefits provided by existing trees.

Take action

Tree Equity Score is just one tool in the toolbox to help you bring Tree Equity to your community. The Tree Equity Support Center is your one-stop shop to help you leverage Tree Equity Score as you tackle project implementation, maintenance planning, policy change, fundraising, community engagement, coalition-building and more.
